Concrete, Dirt & Heavy Debris Dumpsters
Most junk haulers will not take concrete, dirt, or asphalt, and the ones who say yes often show up, look at the pile, and leave. We are a licensed C-61/D-63 contractor with our own trucks, so heavy material is a normal Tuesday. Broken driveways, patio demo, tile and stucco tear-out, grading spoils, and asphalt across North County San Diego.
Weight is the limit, not volume
This is the part that catches people out. With household junk you fill a container until it is full. With concrete you hit the legal weight of the truck long before the box looks full, and a 20 yard box of concrete is far heavier than the road allows. That is why heavy material goes in a smaller, dedicated container that gets swapped, and why a hauler who quotes you a standard roll-off for a driveway tear-out either has not done it or is planning to renegotiate on site.
Roughly, a cubic yard of broken concrete runs around two tons. A single-car driveway is commonly 10 to 15 tons of material. Tell us the square footage and thickness and we will size it properly the first time.

Heavy material we haul
If it is dense, inert, and legal, it is probably fine. What matters is keeping loads separated, because a clean load costs less to dispose of than a mixed one.
Concrete & masonry
Broken driveways, walkways, patios and slabs, footings, block wall, brick, stucco, and tile. Clean concrete with no rebar contamination can go to a recycler rather than a landfill, which is usually the cheaper route and gives you documentation if you need it.
Dirt, soil & grading spoils
Excess fill from grading, trenching, pool excavation, and landscape regrading. Dirt is deceptively heavy and wet dirt is heavier still, so tell us if it has rained, because that genuinely changes the container size we send.
Asphalt & roofing
Asphalt tear-out from driveways and lots, plus roofing shingles from re-roof jobs. Both are heavy enough to need weight-first sizing even though they do not look like it going in.
Mixed demolition debris
Post-demolition material with concrete mixed into wood, drywall and tile. We handle the debris side of demolition and the cleanup that follows. For structural demolition of a building itself, hire a contractor licensed for that scope. See construction cleanup and Bobcat services.
Getting a heavy load priced right
Tell us the material and the math
Square footage and thickness for concrete or asphalt, or rough cubic yards for dirt. A photo helps more than a description. From that we can size the container and give you a real number instead of a range. We drop a dedicated container
Sized to stay legal loaded, placed on boards so it does not mark the driveway. Keep the heavy material clean and separate from household junk and the disposal cost stays down.We haul and swap as needed
Larger tear-outs run as swaps rather than one box. Clean concrete goes to a recycler where possible, and we can provide disposal documentation for jobs that require it.

Concrete & heavy debris FAQ
Can I put concrete in a regular dumpster?
Not safely, and most companies prohibit it outright. A standard roll-off filled with concrete exceeds legal road weight long before the container looks full. Heavy material goes in a smaller dedicated container instead. If someone quotes you a 20 yard for a driveway tear-out, ask them what the loaded weight will be.
How much does concrete removal cost?
It is priced on weight and material rather than a flat container rate, because a yard of concrete weighs about two tons. Send the square footage and thickness, or a photo, and you get a firm number before we roll. Clean concrete with no contamination is usually cheaper because it can be recycled rather than landfilled.
Why does it matter if the load is mixed?
Clean concrete can go to a recycling facility. The moment it is mixed with wood, drywall, plastic or trash it becomes mixed C&D waste, which costs more to dispose of and cannot be recycled the same way. Keeping the heavy material in its own container is usually the cheaper choice.
Do you take dirt?
Yes, including grading spoils, trench spoil, and pool excavation. Dirt is heavy and wet dirt is much heavier, so tell us if it has rained recently or if the soil is clay. That changes the container size we send, and getting it right up front avoids a second trip.
Can you break out the concrete as well as haul it?
Yes. We run a Bobcat and can break out and load driveways, patios and slabs, then haul the material away in the same job. See construction cleanup and Bobcat services for the demolition-debris and site-clearing side.
Do you provide disposal documentation?
Yes. We can provide Green Halo disposal receipts on qualifying jobs, which is what contractors submitting waste management plans generally need. Tell us at booking that you need documentation so we route the load correctly.
Can I fill the dumpster all the way to the top?
Fill it level with the top rail, not above it – heaped or overloaded dumpsters cannot be legally or safely hauled and may be refused until leveled. Keeping the load even and under the weight limit means a smooth and safe one-trip pickup. Debris can fall out of the dumpster and damage property, vehicles, cause accidents and harm others.
Can I put dirt, brush, and yard waste in a dumpster?
Green waste and brush, yes. Dirt, sod, and rock are very heavy and belong in a dedicated heavy-debris dumpster priced by weight. If your project mixes both, tell us and we’ll set you up so you don’t get an overage.
Do you remove yard waste, brush, and green waste?
Yes – branches, brush, leaves, sod, and general green waste from cleanups and landscaping. For bigger jobs we can also clear overgrowth and do light land clearing with our Bobcat.
Can you haul dirt and concrete from a landscaping job?
Yes – dirt, concrete, asphalt, and rock from landscaping and hardscape jobs. These are heavy, so we price them by weight and can bring a heavy-debris container or haul directly. Our Bobcat can help load big piles.
Heavy debris hauling across San Diego County
We haul concrete, dirt and asphalt from Vista, Oceanside, Carlsbad, San Marcos, Escondido and Encinitas. For general remodel and household debris, a standard roll-off dumpster rental is the better fit, and a 20 yard covers most mixed jobs. Contractors running repeat work can set up a Net-30 dumpster account with COI on file.
